Two women killed in a single-vehicle crash on Saturday night are being remembered for their love of life, and love of dance.
Nineteen-year-old Meagan Lofthouse and 21-year-old Brittany Wardle were killed after their vehicle hit a tree on La Salette Road, east of town.
The two friends will be deeply missed by their families, as well as their second family at a local dance studio.
The flag at Glendale High School was also lowered Monday as students inside wrote messages to the families.
Ann Lofthouse, Meagan’s mother, says “It’s been very wonderful, the outpouring of support and love that the whole dance community’s given her and all of her friends.”
Wardle taught hip hop at the Danscene studio, while Lofthouse was a long-time student.
Danscene owner and instructor Angela Farkas says the girls met at the school and everyone there is devastated.
“Both have positive energy, you never saw them without a smile…In a small town, to lose one soul is hard enough, but to lose two young souls is very difficult.”
On Sunday, many members of the studio gathered to make paper angels with messages for the girls. They will be displayed at their funerals.
Mark Wardle, Brittany’s father, says “I kind of expected what was going to be there, but when I did there was so many kids, so many parents.”
There has also been an outpouring of support on Facebook, Mark says “A lot of the comments were how she made an impact in their lives. Her smile, everything was about her smile.”
The visitation for Brittany will take place on Tuesday and the funeral on Wednesday, no arrangements have yet been announced for Meagan.
