With almost 10 per cent unemployment in London, Premier Kathleen Wynne was eager to talk jobs today when she was in London Friday.

Speaking at the London Chamber of Commerce, Wynne pumped up her government’s youth jobs strategy – getting people from graduation, to internships to jobs.

“It’s not that there aren't jobs; there are jobs. It’s just that we don't have the people in the region to fill those jobs. It’s just that there's that skills mismatch,” she says.

At Little Beaver restaurant in Komoka, Erin Riley often hears people talking about unemployment.

“Ihear it all the time, I can't find a job in my field. I can't find a job in my field, I can't find a job in what I went to school for.”

Earlier this week, Wynne told the legislature that 22 companies were approved for funding under the Southwestern Ontario Development Fund -  a fund that's supposed to help spur job growth. Friday, when asked about those companies, she said the deals aren't signed yet.

Conservative MPP Monte McNaughton says he doesn’t think those jobs are coming.

“If these jobs announcements were in the pipeline, she should be announcing them right now. I don't think she has any plan to get Ontario back on track.”
