After several delays, the murder trial of Christopher Gale got underway in London Thursday.
The first to testify was the victim's father, Don Bishop, who told the court about his relationship with his daughter and the accused.
Gale has pleaded not guilty to a charge of second-degree murder in the shooting death of his girlfriend, 21-year-old Jocelyn Bishop in July 2010.
Jocelyn Bishop’s body was found in a shallow grave behind a Fanshawe Park Road home.
Don Bishop told the court his daughter had anxiety issues, but he didn’t see any depression in her. He says he and Gale never really had a full relationship.
Don Bishop testified that Gale told him he and Jocelyn had a fight and she left.
A mistrial was called in the case in March and Justice Andrew Goodman warned the jury to ignore any prior proceedings. The trial is expected to last three weeks.
