A trio of Victorian-era homes have moved one step closer to demolition as the city looks to approve a new highrise.
The decision came after city hall's planning committee heard presentations from each side in London's latest heritage fight.
London-based developer Tricar is proposing this 30-storey residential highrise on the corner of Talbot Street and Dufferin Avenue.
The planning committee was told Tricar made significant design improvements during discussions with city hall's planning department.
The three houses represent one of the best remaining streetscapes from London's first residential suburb.
But several councillors referenced the principal in 'The London Plan' is to encourage upward growth in the downtown.
After three hours of debate the committee unanimously recommended demolition and the rezoning.
City council will make the final decision next week.
