One person is in hospital in critical condition and two others have serious injuries, after a two-vehicle crash on Egremont Drive, west of London, Friday.
OPP say an SUV and a minivan collided near Poplar Hill at Ivan Drive about 2:45 p.m.
Const. Kevin Howe called it a "T-bone" crash as the eastbound minivan lost control and crossed into the path of the SUV, heading west. He says all of the injured are adults.
Egremont Drive will be closed from Ivan Drive to Sinclair Drive, until at least 9 or 10 p.m. as members of the OPP Technical Traffic Collision team investigate.
Icy conditions across the region
Overnight rainfall left slippery conditions across southwestern Ontario, leaving many residents trying to clear ice from driveways and sidewalks on Friday.
John Parsons of London Transportation and Roadside Operations says, "We've had crews out since seven this morning replacing sand...we can't peel the ice right off the sidewalk so we'll never get down to bare concrete, but what we can do is address the snow and ice conditions that exist on the sidewalk by applying sand."
Still, Parsons says, it's important to watch your step.
North and west of the city, roads were also problematic in Middlesex and Perth County, with numerous collisions reported as icy patches and blowing snow made driving difficult.
Drivers were being asked to slow down and drive according to weather conditions.
