London Humane Society officials are reeling after 16 cats were abandoned there in a two-hour period Saturday.
The felines included two mothers and kittens and a pregnant cat.
The humane society's Judy Foster says she's never seen anything like it and staff are left struggling to care for the cats and to find homes.
"I have to say, 16 in two hours is a record. I can't remember the last time we've had this many dropped off."
They were left by people who failed to identify themselves or say why they can no longer care for the animals.
She says the cats appear to be in good health and so far, the mothers are accepting their kittens.
