About 20 people were braving the cold temperatures to search for a meterorite Sunday near St. Thomas.
Using poles and walking in straight lines the searchers were searching for the meteorite which would be about the size of a golf ball.
Finding it will allow scientists to find out more about another part of the solar system.
The search was led by Phil McCausland, the meteorite curator at Western.
"Most meteorites comes from basically the first million years, when the solar system was forming, so we want to be able to sample that kind of material," he says.
Patrick Hermann drove from Toronto Saturday night so he could be part of the hunt.
“If one of the people in the group find something, its exciting for everyone,” he says.
“I've never found anything in Ontario, I've been successful in other places, but never here.”
