The jury at the Ryker Daponte-Michaud death trial in London heard how frantic it was on the night infant died.
The testimony was given by the Strathroy-Cardoc police officers who first arrived at the scene.
Const. Mark Thuss testified that by the time he arrived at 355 Penny Lane in Strathroy on May 21, 2014.
Ryker was already dead.
"The baby was lying face up and the paramedics were putting a blanket over the baby," said Thuss.
Thuss said the mother of the child, Amanda Dumont and her partner Scott Bakker were both in the backyard.
"Ms. Dumont was very upset...Bakker was sweating and crying...I could smell vomit from his breath," testified Thuss.
When Sgt. Jason Cartwright saw Bakker sweating that night he testified, "Absolutely...It could be consistent with someone using drugs."
Cartwright said it seemed at times Bakker was speaking like a young child.
The jury has heard Ryker died about three days after being badly burned with hot instant coffee.
Dumont and Bakker have pleaded not guilty to criminal negligence causing death and failing to provide the necessaries of life.
During the testimony, Dumont and Bakker sat in separate prisoners boxes, from time to time they take notes and hand them to their lawyers.
All of the officers that have testified said the townhouse on Penny Lane where the accused lived was very messy, unkempt and had a rotten smell.
