The Ontario government is spending nearly $987,000 to help create 46 new jobs and retain 176 positions at three companies in southwestern Ontario.
Dr. Eric Hoskins, minister of economic development, trade and employment was at Railway City Brewing Company, one of the companies involved, to make the announcement on Thursday.
"The Southwestern Ontario Development Fund is helping companies innovate, grow and strengthen our economy. We’re proud to partner with businesses in southwestern Ontario to ensure they have the support they need to diversify their operations and create good jobs," he said in a statement.
The award-winning brewery in St. Thomas is using the nearly $123,000 in funding to renovate facilities, install new equipment, expand production and add a dozen new jobs to the existing 11 positions.
Also in St. Thomas, eight new jobs are being added at Lumar Machining and Manufacturing, and the machine shop is also investing in larger equipment with the over $374,000.
Down the road in Glencoe, Cooper-Standard Automotive Canada is adding 26 new positions and retaining 151 existing jobs as it uses nearly $490,000 in funding for new equipment to launch a new product line.
