The Middlesex-London Health Unit is putting the results of public pool and spa inspections, as well as those for tattoo and piercing facilities online.
Tristan Squire-Smith, with the health unit's Infection Disease Control Team, said in a statement, "The website allows anyone to search for inspection reports by picking a location from a map, or searching by community, first letter or facility type."
The reports will join those already available for food premises at: healthunit.com/inspections
Making the reports publicly available comes on the heels of the success of the health unit's revamped DineSafe program and is intended to provide data that helps the public make informed choices.
The health unit says the online disclosure also gives operators an "added incentive" to ensure safety and compliance with the Health Protection and Promotion Act.
The organization also notes that only properly licenced facilities are inspected and listed on the website.
