The body of a male was found at a high-voltage transformer station in the Hamilton Road and Highbury Avenue area on Friday morning.
Police, EMS and Hydro One crews were called to the scene on Power Street after the body was discovered by employees arriving for work.
The area where the body was found is surrounded by chain-link fence and razor wire. A section of fence was found cut through and it is believed the man was trespassing.
London police Sgt. Stephen Cochrane says "It would appear as though, based on the circumstances in which we found him, he died as a result of an electrocution."
Police believe the break-in happened sometime within the last 24 hours.
Neighbours in the area say the site has had problems with trespassers, break and enters and copper thefts.
Cochrane says "The equipment inside the compound was still live, so it had to be safely shut down before we could enter the compound.
Hydro One said in a statement the station supplies more than 50 megawatts of electricity and has two 115,000 volt circuits.
The company added "Entering Hydro One stations without the propery safety measures is extremely dangerous."
Metal thefts have been such an issue for Hydro One they have released a video on the impact and dangers.
