Overnight street parking was supposed to have ended this coming weekend, but on Monday night council decided to extend permission until Nov. 1.
But the decision to launch a two-month pilot project wasn't without its critics.
The pilot project will evaluate such things as impacts on leaf collection, lost ticket revenue and complaints from the public.
Concerns were raised about parking in neighbourhoods around Western and Fanshawe and that in the event of an early snowstorm, ploughing costs could double from $1 million to $2 million.
Lost ticket revenue will be about $215,000.
But by a vote of 10-5, led primarily by council's rookies, the two-month experiment will begin next week and will be evaluated during budget deliberations this winter.
