A Bluewater man was killed in a two-vehicle crash west of Zurich in Huron County.
Emergency crews were called to the intersection of Zurich-Hensall Road (Huron County Road #84) and Bronson Line around noon on Saturday, November 19th, 2016.
Police say the driver of a Jeep Compass was travelling southbound on Bronson Line when he failed to stop at a stop sign controlling the intersection of Bronson Line and Zurich-Hensall Road. The Jeep entered the intersection and struck an eastbound Chevrolet Silverado.
The driver and lone occupant of the pickup truck was ejected from his vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene. He has been identified as 61-year-old John Vanderburgt from the Municipality of Bluewater.
The driver and lone occupant of the Jeep Compass, a 57-year-old man from Mount Vernon, Illinois, was treated for minor injuries in hospital. A charge under the Highway Traffic Act is pending.
Zurich-Hensall Road between the west edge of Zurich and Blackbush Line will be closed until 6:00 p.m. Bronson Line is closed between Danceland Road and Rodgerville Road.
