The former nurse accused of killing eight patients at nursing homes in Woodstock and London made another court appearance Thursday.

Elizabeth Wetllaufer appeared via a video link at the Woodstock courthouse Thursday morning.

Her next court date is Jan. 6, at 9 a.m. via video.

Meanwhile, OPP have been requested to broaden its investigation after two more families expressed issues regarding the "unexpected" deaths of family members who lived at homes where Wettlaufer was employed.

The family has retained a London lawyer William Brennan to represent them and ensure police investigate their loved ones deaths.

The 49-year-old woman, who worked as a nurse at long-term care facilities in Woodstock and London, has been charged with eight counts of first degree murder following a multi-jurisdiction homicide investigation.

Police say the homicides occurred between 2007 and 2014, when patients were allegedly administered a drug.

  • Mary Zurawinski, 96, Caressant Care - Woodstock, Nov. 7, 2011
  • Helen Young, 90, Caressant Care - Woodstock, July 14, 2013
  • Maureen Pickering ,79, Caressant Care - Woodstock, March 28, 2014
  • Arpad Horvath, 75, Meadow Park - London, August 31, 2014

Wettlaufer was registered with College of Nurses of Ontario in 1995 and resigned on Sept. 30 of this year.

Police began investigating after Wettlaufer shared information to careworkers at a psychiatric hospital in Toronto.

Wettlaufer entered into a peace bond and had restrictions placed on her by a court while police investigated the deaths.

Her last court appearance was November 2nd.
