The 2015-16 London Knights have been inducted in the London Sports Hall of Fame.
The announcement came Monday morning and the Knights call the news “an honour.”
The 2015-16 team won 17 straight playoff games and the Memorial Cup.
This induction is the second Knights team to go into the London Sports Hall of Fame. They will join the 2004-2005 London Knights who were inducted after the franchise won its first Memorial Cup Championship.
“It is an honour to have our 2016 team inducted into the London Sports Hall of Fame”, said Dale Hunter, the Knights owner, president, and head coach.
“We had an unforgettable team full of great young men, who have already gone and started successful NHL careers. It is a great sense of pride to have two teams as members of the London Sports Hall of Fame.”
The 2016 championship team featured Mitch Marner, Christian Dvorak and Matthew Tkachuk. The three combined to score 344 points and formed arguably one of the greatest lines in the history of the CHL.
The team also included seven players who were selected in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, three of which were first round picks.
