Deputy Premier and London North Centre MPP Deb Matthews has announced more funding for southwestern Ontario hospitals to help improve wait times.
At a news conference Friday at the London Health Sciences Centre, Matthews said $10.7 million will be shared by 18 hospitals in the region.
LHSC is receiving about $2.7 million, with St. Joseph’s Health Care getting $1.5 million.
The Province said the investment will ensure Ontario hospitals have received at least a 2 per cent increase to their base funding this year.
Additional funding has been provided to hospitals to support population growth and changing health care needs in their communities.
“London Health Sciences Centre welcomes today’s funding announcement," said LHSC president and CEO Murray Glendining.
“Providing both high-quality and timely access to health care is our top priority at LHSC, and this increased investment will help make a positive difference to our patients.”
