London city councillor Matt Brown is running for mayor, he announced today.
The Ward 7 councillor filed his papers Friday, but said his focus at this point is on the 2014 budget.
“I am committed to completing the work I was elected to do by the residents of Ward 7. This budget could be a turning point for London. I believe by working together and making smart decisions we can set the foundation for future prosperity. This is my main focus,” he said.
He also said he’ll spend the early months of the campaign listening to the public.
“I believe elected officials should speak less and listen more. A great city is built on bold, fresh ideas and those ideas should come first and foremost from its residents. So that’s how I’m going to start this campaign: by listening to the aspirations, and the frustrations, of Londoners."
It is expected current mayor Joe Fontana will seek another term.
