Is Earth Hour losing it’s power?
The number indicate that may be the case in London.
Earth Hour was started in 2007, encouraging residents in cities around the world to turn off all non-essential lights, appliances and gadgets for one hour.
Based on measurements from London Hydro and Ontario’s Independent Electricity System Operator, the Forest City says its power demands drop just one per cent during Earth Hour.
The city’s director of environmental services, Jay Stanford, says more Londoners seem to be conserving as a way of life.
He says overall consumption from 2011 to 2012 dropped about three per cent.
