The Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal has deemed the 1.5-million Hyde Park fire accidental.
The London Fire Department recently received the Ontario Fire Marshal’s findings related to the blaze at 1700 Hyde Park Road fire on June 30.
Given the dollar loss exceeded the Ontario Fire Marshal’s $500,000 threshold, the London Fire Department notified the OFM of the incident.
The OFM dispatched an Investigator for the purposes of determining the cause and origin of the fire.
Based on the findings of the investigation, the OFM investigator classified the cause of the fire as accidental.
Officials say no evidence was found suggesting an intentionally set fire.
The extensive damage from the fire made it impossible to determine an exact cause. Despite the extensive damage, the evidence does suggest that the fire started in the attic space of the building.
