Roughly 1,400 Londoners took part in the 35th annual Terry Fox Run Sunday at Springbank Gardens.
Participants had an option of a two, five or ten kilometre route.
Julie McLeod knows Terry would be proud of London's efforts.
She got the chance to meet him when she was six years old. It was an inspirational moment that she still remembers.
"It's amazing I got to meet a Canadian hero. I am so excited that I am keeping his dream alive which is what he wants is to continue his Marathon of Hope," says McLeod.
Ron Calhoun was the national coordinator for the Terry Fox Marathon of Hope.
He worked closely with Terry and says not only was he inspirational, the way he cared so much about others is what he remembers the most.
"He believed in miracles. He was so pure. He was almost like a saint in sheep's clothing because he was just so pure," says Calhoun.
Kicking off Sunday's run was Olympic athlete Damien Warner who says Fox's Marathon of Hope inspired him as a child
"His determination, his persistence and his drive. It inspired me as an athlete and to have this event in London. it's my honor to be out here to participate in it," says Warner.
So far, London has raised $3-million for the Terry Fox Marathon of Hope.
