A homicide investigation underway by Sarnia Police led to the involvement of the OPP in a highway chase. In the early hours of Sunday morning, the OPP pursued a vehicle of interest in the investigation into the death of 26-year-old Jonathan Patrick Pike.
The pursuit happened in the area of Michigan Line and Highway 21. Police used a spike bar to end the chase. A 27-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man in the vehicle were arrested and are facing charges under the Criminal Code and Controlled Drugs and Substance Act. None of those charges are related to the homicide.
Sarnia Police are currently conducting a follow-up examination of Michigan Line and are continuing to investigate the homicide. Police found Pike's body on Friday in a wooded area west of Tashmoo Avenue, in Sarnia's south end. A citizen alerted police to suspicious sounds coming from the wooded area.
Police are asking for the public's continued help. Any information can be directed to Inspector Norm Hansen at 519-344-8861 ex 6086 or Crime Stoppers.
