There's been a guilty plea in a horrific 2014 crash in Wingham that killed an unborn child and severely injured his mother.

On Monday, Joshua Fryer pleaded guilty to criminal negligence causing bodily harm along with theft, attempted theft and driving while disqualified in a Goderich courtroom.

Fryer admitted to stealing the van in Blyth before colliding head-on with Marsha Benninger's truck in September of 2014.

Court heard that fryer was travelling at 172 kilometres an hour when the two vehicles collided.

Benninger's unborn child was killed in the crash.

Her 3 year old daughter was injured while Benninger herself spent months in hospital.

The Benninger's baby memory box was stolen from a London hotel parking lot shortly after the crash.

The box was found but its contents were dumped by thieves.

Sentencing for Fryer will occur June 30.
