Ski bums rejoice! Groundbreaking for a new $6.1 million chalet has held at Boler Mountain Friday afternoon.
The not-for-profit is building a 16,000 square foot, three-level facility.
Officials say it will be a community-use facility, used for private and corporate events.
"As we grew into a year-round centre, there was increasing demand from the community for a better chalet facility,” says Gary Curtis, President of the volunteer Board of Directors at Boler Mountain in a release.
“The new chalet will allow Boler Mountain to provide our guests with a spectacular view of the ski hill from a comfortable and accessible facility. The state of the art kitchen and dining facilities will also enable Boler to host weddings and corporate events in conjunction with our current slate of outdoor adventure activities," says Curtis.
The current chalet is 44 years old.
Officials say it will remain on the property as an equipment rental shop.
The chalet is expected to be operational for the 2017-18 ski season.
Building will start during the 2016-17 season.
