One person has died from the flu virus in the London area, according to the Middlesex-London Health Unit.
Medical officer of Health Dr. Christopher Mackie says it was an elderly person and older citizens are the most at risk for complications from the flu, as well as children and those with chronic diseases.
Mackie says there were 14 deaths last year.
Officials say they're expecting more flu cases to show up in the next few weeks as more people gather for Christmas holidays.
Mackie says people should get their flu shot as soon as possible, to give the vaccine time to kick in and offer protection against illness.
