A farming accident in Elgin County on Wednesday morning has claimed the life of a 27-year-old man.
Emergency responders were called to a farm on Duff Line in Dutton-Dunwich around 10 a.m. after a report that a man had been pinned by a tree.
Police say the man was attempting to transport a large log when it toppled and he became trapped underneath.
Elgin County OPP Const. Troy Carlson says "We're certainly in the beginning stages of determining what happened. At this point all we know is that he was transporting a tree on what appears to be the bucket of a tractor and somehow that tree moved and crushed him. The Ministry of Labour will be attending, as will the coroner."
The man was found without vital signs and later pronounced dead.
The victim's name has not been released.
