A 23-year-old man was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries after a two-vehicle crash on Highbury Avenue near St. Thomas on Thursday morning.
Elgin County OPP say around 5:25 a.m. a southbound Honda Civic crossed over the centre line and crashed into a northbound AboutTown passenger van.
The collision caused the van to roll and left both vehicles with major damage.
The driver of the Civic, a 23-year-old from St. Thomas, had to be extricated by firefighters.
He was taken to the London Health Sciences Centre with life-threatening injuries and is listed in serious condition.
The 52-year-old van driver was taken to St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital with minor injuries and was released. There were no passengers in the van.
Highbury was closed between Mapleton Line and Ron McNeil Line until shortly after 1 p.m. for the investigation.
