Two people are facing animal cruelty charges after three dogs and two cats were rescued from a truck that had been left in a London parking lot for days.
A concerned citizen called police on Monday evening, after a muzzled dog in the cab of a moving truck began honking the vehicle’s horn.
Police found a total of three dogs and two cats in what they describe in a press release as “deplorable conditions and without proper care.”
The animals are currently in the care of the London Humane Society.
On Thursday, Donna Hebert and Allan Folkins-Wyre were charged with three counts of causing an animal to be in distress, failing to provide necessary care and failing to provide adequate and appropriate sanitary conditions.
The investigation into the pair began on Dec. 3, when the London Humane Society was contacted with concerns about the welfare of three dogs.
However, the owners vacated the unit where they had been staying and took the dogs with them to avoid London Humane Society officers.
