Provincial police say one person was killed and another was injured when a deer was thrown through the windshield of an SUV after being hit by another vehicle just north of Goderich.
The incident happened at about 7 p.m. Monday in Port Albert (on Bluewater Veteran's Highway at Victoria Street) when police say a southbound vehicle collided with a deer that had entered the roadway.
The impact of the collision sent the deer airborne into the path of a northbound SUV and police say the animal struck a female passenger who was in the front seat.
The passenger, 67-year-old Elizabeth Neable, of Tiverton, was pronounced dead on the scene while the SUV's driver, Murray Neable, 69, of Tiverton, was transported to hospital with minor injuries. He has since been released.
The two occupants of the other vehicle were not injured.
Police say they are continuing to investigate the incident.
