London police allege a corrections officer at the Elgin-Middlesex Detention Centre was providing an inmate with drugs.
Officers were called to EMDC on Saturday in relation to an investigation involving drugs in the prison.
As a result of their investigation, 36-year-old Tanya Zavitz of London was arrested on Thursday.
She has been charged with three counts of trafficking in a controlled substance.
Over $500 in drugs was seized, including; 17 grams of marijuana bud valued at $170, 22 grams of marijuana resin valued at $330 and a gram of hashish valued a $15.
Zavitz was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on April 3rd.
The Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services say it would be inappropriate to comment on the arrest, "As there are multiple ongoing investigations by the police and ministry."
Meanwhile Kevin Egan, the lawyer representing a number of former inmates in a class-action lawsuit over conditions at EMDC, tells CTV News the charges lend credibility to his clients' claims about drug use and violence at the facility.
