The constant freezing temperatures have created the perfect storm to wreak havoc on London's infrastructure.
A water main burst at the intersection of York and Richmond Streets.
Water is shut off to surrounding businesses, including the VIA Rail station.
City officials are calling this water main break an "elaborate" fix and it could take until Friday to rectify the problem.
Pedestrian Bruce Thompson says it's more than annoying, "I almost fell through the hole. There was a hole right there and i walk to school."
Jonathan Tayler also agrees that there's more than usual because of the weather.
"At least they're here right away getting it fixed up, but yeah it's frustrating," he says.
This is one of the nearly 50 water main breaks this month, according to city officials.
In 2013 the city averaged around one water main break a day, but this year London is averaging two to three each day.
Last year, there were 30 breaks in January. This year, the city has already had 50 breaks, edging it closer to its budgeted 150 breaks for the entire year.
Motorists are being asked to avoid the area to prevent traffic jams.
