Chatham-Kent police say they’re continuing to receive calls regarding ‘prize pitch’ scams.
Police say residents are receiving calls with the person on the other end congratulating them on being a lucky winner, which is usually cash or a vehicle.
In order to receive the prize the "winner" must wire money as part of their processing fees or for tax purposes.
Authorities say winners do not have to purchase a product to qualify for a prize or pay fees in a legitimate contest. Additionally, they say people need to use their instincts and if it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is.
