Some residents in Port Elgin had a rude awakening after a black bear was spotted in a dense residential area in the shoreline town.
The photo above was snapped by an off duty police officer early Tuesday morning.
A bear was also spotted in Kincardine earlier this week, but it’s unclear if it’s the same bear.
Saugeen Shores police are aware of the bear but aren’t actively tracking it.
They are asking residents to keep pets inside at least for the day and call them if they see the bear again.
The Ministry of Natural Resources has not been called in because the bear hasn’t been aggressive at all and isn’t stuck in a tree.
It’s not uncommon to see bears along the Lake Huron shoreline at this time of year.
