The mayor of Woodstock is excited about a proposed partnership with the University of Ottawa, which would see the Reg Hall building become classrooms for a thousand students studying French.
The satellite campus would address a shortage of post-secondary courses offered in French, but it would also bring education opportunities to Woodstock and help re-develop the downtown with economic activity.
City hall is offering the building as part of a "substantial financial contribution" to the project.
“We've taken the attitude (of) let’s be more aggressive. Let’s make sure to answer all of their questions,” says Mayor Pat Sobeski.
Last week London city council turned down a request from Fanshawe College for an additional $10 million to renovate the Kingsmill's Building and increase its downtown campus to nearly 2,000 students.
