It was a cold start to the day for many people in Huron and Bruce County.

Power was out for about 2,000 people in midwestern Ontario Friday morning following a transformer fire on a pole north of Teeswater around 6 a.m.

Communities and areas affected included Lucknow, Ripley, Wingham, Teeswater, Mildmay, and Ayton.

Power was quickly restored to most of Wingham and Teeswater, and returned for others throughout the day.

It took until about mid-afternoon for power to be restored to the final 100 or so residents.

The power outage forced a delay for buses and in some cases the closure of schools for the day.
