Toronto Maple Leaf Nazem Kadri, a London native, held his annual charity golf tournament in Komoka Saturday.

Last year, his tournament at Firerock Golf Club raised $135,000 for local charities.

This is the third year for the event and the money raised will go to the Merrymount Family Centre, the Muslim Resource Centre and the London Food Bank.

"The community is important. They gave lots to me, especially when I was younger, this was all I knew. For the position, I have been put in, I think it is important for me to give back, you know, especially in the youth," Kadri says.

"I am a big believer in the youth coming up and just want to make sure that everyone is taken care of."

Last month, the Maple Leafs signed Kadri to a one-year contract extension after he was suspended for a couple of games due to off-ice issues.

He reportedly has been working hard in the off-season.
