The pilot and a passenger of a World War II era plane suffered minor injuries after it flipped while landing near Owen Sound Sunday afternoon.

Emergency crews were called to the Wings and Wheels event at the Billy Bishop Regional Airport in Meaford around 2:30 p.m. for a report of a plane crash.

A World War II Havard Mark 4 was landing when it left the runway and flipped in the field.

The pilot, a 46-year-old man from Toronto, and a 21-year-old woman suffered minor injuries.

Police say a doctor and nurse who happened to be at the event came to the assistance of the two onboard.

The Transportation Safety Board (TSB) was notified and will continue the investigation.
