Woodstock fire and police officials continue to investigate a house fire that injured four people Friday and forced the evacuation of other homes on Alberta Avenue.
A home at 598 Alberta Ave. was fully engulfed in flames by about 4:45 p.m. when emergency personnel arrived.
"911 callers had heard an explosion in the residence," fire chief Scott Tegler said.
On Sunday, officials said three were still in hospital with burns.
The Ontario Fire Marshal's office continues to investigate to look for a cause.
Four occupants of the house went to Woodstock Hospital with undetermined injuries. Two of the injured were later transferred to the London Health Sciences Centre.
The neighbouring residences at 602 and 594 Alberta Ave. sustained heat damage to their exteriors as well, police said.
The fire chief said fighting the fire in the frigid cold was a challenge.
"The gear freezes up. It's probably one of the most difficult challenging jobs you can do in this type of weather so we've rotated crews in ...to thaw out their equipment."
