An elderly woman has been transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries following a crash north of Strathroy on Thursday afternoon.
Police were called to the scene on Centre Road south of Highway 402 shortly after 2 p.m. for reports of a serious three-vehicle collision.
Investigators say a black Chrysler car from Michigan exited the eastbound 402 and as it entered Centre Road it collided with a dump truck. A northbound water tanker truck was also involved in the crash.
OPP Const. Laurie Houghton says "The female driver of the car sustained serious, life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to hospital."
An elderly male in the car was also extricated. He suffered serious injuries and was transported to hospital by land ambulance.
The drivers of each of the trucks were taken to hospital in Strathroy with minor injuries and have since been released.
No names have yet been released pending notification of the Michigan couple's family.
The OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigation Team is on scene and Centre Road is expected to remain closed from Second Street to the north side of Highway 402 for several hours.
Motorists are asked to avoid the area.
