A Stratford-area man has been charged with careless driving after police say a speeding one-horse buggy tried to lead police on a wild chase.
Police say the bizarre incident happened Sunday in the village of Milverton, when patrol officers spotted the open buggy with three male occupants -- all in their early 20's -- driving faster than the usual buggy speed and swerving all over the streets.
It's alleged that the buggy driver sped up the horse when he saw the OPP cruiser, and continued driving erratically before making a sharp turn, causing the buggy to tip over and spill all three occupants and several bottles of liquor.
In addition to the careless driving charge the men face liquor-related charges, and police say the borrowed horse and buggy were returned to their farm.
