London Muslims have joined together and issued a statement condemning the “horrific loss of life” in Paris.
Both the Islamic Centre of Southwest Ontario and the London Muslim Mosque are expressing sorrow for the violence in France and other parts of the world.
“As Muslims, we stand in solidarity with the international community in condemning terror, which has no place in our world,” the statement said.
“We further stand in solidarity with the people of France, the victims of the attack, their friends and family members.”
Imam Jamal Taleb, speaking on behalf of local Muslim organizations, called the acts inhumane.
"As we come to grips with the barbaric loss of innocent lives in Paris, this is a time to reflect, to pray and to mourn.”
The Islamic Centre of Southwest Ontario’s Facebook page also had more condemnation for the attacks. The message had been shared about 200 times.
Other Londoners are also expressing support.
Julia Cunningham purchased a French flag that’s flying at the front of her home. She said many cars driving by honk their horns to show support.
She said it is difficult to understand what happened in Paris Friday night.
“I can relate to that, you know, going to a concert. Enjoying something you really work hard to do and then something like that happening, Cunningham said.
“It’s just hearing the accounts and what’s happening and people are really banning together and trying to really be strong. So I think that just putting something out to represent, is just something small that we can do.”
