Ontario's Special Investigations Unit has charged a London police officer in connection with an August 2014 incident.
According to the SIU, early on Sunday, Aug. 20, 2014, 43-year-old Michel Gibeault was arrested in London for various offences and taken to the police station, where there was allegedly an interaction between Gibeault and an officer.
The SIU says Gibeault was subsequently released and eventually diagnosed with two fractured ribs.
The London Police Service reported the incident to the SIU in December 2014.
As a result of the SIU investigation, London police Sgt. Trevor Pool is facing one count of assault causing bodily harm.
He is scheduled to appear in a London courtroom on June 9, 2015.
