According to Woodstock police, two women were apprehended circulating counterfeit bills at stores in the city this week.

The pair were reported on January 9, and police say that they have been circulating false $20 and $50 bills.

The investigation is ongoing; however, police have warned the public of some of the hallmarks that the counterfeit currency sports.

Key to identifying these false bills is the incorrect holographic marking. The bills both bear holographic markings of ‘100’ despite it not matching the value of the bill.

Police say that it’s a good reminder to the public to carefully check cash received to prevent these false bills from circulating in the community.
