The students are returning to London this week and the London police will once again launch Project Learn.

Learn is an acronym for Liquor Enforcement and Reduction of Noise, with police using extra patrols in student neighbourhoods during a three and a half week campaign that starts Wednesday and runs until Homecoming.

Police say they're working with student leaders at both Fanshawe College and Western University to welcome incoming students to the community and to make sure rowdiness is kept in check.

Police are asking students to enjoy their first few weeks of the school year, but to make wise decisions.

Last year, police laid 105 criminal charges during Project Learn, but only 15 were to students.

They handed out more than 1,400 tickets, with about 60 per cent of those to students.
