Police are holding a news conference in Owen Sound on Wednesday to “provide information on the homicide investigation of Sharif Rahman.”

The 44-year-old Rahman owned and operated The Curry House in downtown Owen Sound with his family.

On the evening of Aug. 17, 2023, Rahman was violently attacked after confronting three patrons over a dispute involving their bill.

Rahman died later in hospital. His violent death sent shockwaves throughout the community, many fearing the attack was racially motivated.

This summer, on July 30, Owen Sound police and Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) informed the public they had made an arrest in Rahman’s homicide.

They, however, did not say how many people they arrested or what those arrested had been charged with. They said the investigation was “complex.”

On Wednesday, the Owen Sound Police and Ontario Provincial Police are expected to shed some more light on Rahman’s case and where it stands.

That news conference is slated for 2:30 p.m. at Owen Sound Police headquarters.
