TORONTO - Ontario politicians are offering their condolences and prayers to the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings.

There was a moment of silence at the start of question period at the Ontario legislature today to remember those who died and were injured when two bombs ripped apart the finish line of the race Monday afternoon.

Premier Kathleen Wynne offered her support to the people of Boston and the victims' families in the wake of the "shocking event."

Wynne, an avid runner, says races like the Boston Marathon are a demonstration of human endurance and sense of community.

Progressive Conservative MPP Vic Fedeli called the bombings "cowardly acts of terrorism" and offered condolences on behalf of his party.

New Democrat Leader Andrea Horwath did the same, saying everyone was shocked by the events.
