A 69-year-old North Perth man was sent to hospital with critical injuries after his motorcycle collided with a farm tractor north of Listowel.

Perth County OPP were called to the crash on Line 89 between Road 152 and Road 157 at 10:25 a.m. on Thursday.

Police say the tractor and the motorcycle were both travelling west on Line 89, when the tractor proceeded to make a left turn into a driveway ahead of the motorcycle.

The motorcyclist, anticipating an imminent collision, attempted to evade impacting the tractor by laying down the motorcycle, say OPP. The motorcyclist and his machine slid to a stop causing injuries to the motorcyclist.

The Harley Davidson motorcycle incurred extensive damage.  The Massey Ferguson farm tractor operated by a 56-year-old male resident of the Municipality of North Perth was undamaged.

Police say the motorcyclist was transported to a local hospital with major injuries.  He was subsequently transported by air ambulance to a London hospital where he remains in critical condition.

Police closed Line 89 between Road 152 and Road 157 to traffic until late afternoon to allow for the traffic investigation unit to safely investigate the crash.  Investigation into this collision is continuing.
