Its an anniversary that still haunts a Lucan family.
Fifteen years ago next week, Brenda, the daughter of Shirley and Jerry Nurse, was killed by her husband.
Even though the scars for the family run deep, they continue to make sure their daughter's voice is heard through the London Abused Women's Centre.
Not a day goes by that the Nurse family doesn't think of Brenda.
"When the anniversary is coming up, it's something that you remember and reflect on," says Brenda's father Jerry.
On January 20, 1999, Brenda was shot to death outside her home in Lucan by her estranged husband Joel. He then took his own life.
For Brenda's sister Vicki that day is still haunts her, "It's always with you, especially this time of the year."
Over the years, the family has found some solace through the London Abused Women's Centre.
Brenda left behind two children, Jennifer was 18 at the time and her son Travis was just 10.
Brenda was remembered during the first Shine the Light Campaign.
The family will showing their support by attending the International Women's Day Breakfast, which will take place March 7, 2014 in London.
Vicki is urging women in abusive relationships to speak-up and get out.
"I think there are a lot of women who hide the fact they are being abused. They're too embarrassed to tell people," she says.
