A London man arrested following an armed robbery has also been charged in connection with a vehicle theft earlier this month.

Police say a male entered the Hi-Ya Variety store on Wharncliffe Road North around 1:45 p.m. on Tuesday armed with a gun and demanded money.

The two employees did not hand over any cash and the man fled on foot. No one was injured.

A suspect, 25-year-old Patrick Conroy, was arrested at a nearby residence soon after the incident with a replica handgun in his possession.

An investigation has also led police to allege that Conroy was involved in the theft of a vehicle from a home on Wharncliffe Road North on March 10.

The vehicle was found abandoned the next day.

Conroy is facing charges including:

  • Two counts of robbery
  • Use imitation firearm during the commission of an offence
  • Carry a concealed weapon
  • Theft of a motor vehicle
  • Theft, not exceeding $5,000

No information has been released on a court date for Conroy.
