A London man is facing several charges in a case officials call animal hoarding.
The London Human Society removed 28 cats, some pregnant, from an east London home that had been re-purposed to accommodate all of them.
Edward Mantz, 54, has been charged with causing distress, failing to provide suitable and adequate sanitary conditions and failing to provide necessary care.
A number of the female cats have now given birth since coming into care.
Following statutory holding procedures, some of the cats are now available for adoption. Others will become available as space in the adoption area opens up and as they are cleared medically.
