A five-year-old girl was rushed to hospital Tuesday morning after she was stabbed several times and her father has been charged with attempted murder.
Officers were called to a home on Applegreen Grove around 6:10 a.m. where police say they located a five-year-old female who had sustained multiple stab wounds.
She was subsequently transported to hospital by ambulance with life-threatening injuries, but police say she is now in stable condition in the pediatric critical care unit.
Officers arrested an adult male at the scene. Police have since identified him as 38-year-old Andrew Bruce Hill of London, the girl's father.
He is facing one count of attempted murder in the incident and was being held in custody pending a court appearance.
A neighbour told CTV News she heard screams just before 6 a.m. She says she went outside and police and ambulance were arriving.
"I came out and heard lots of screaming," Zeneyra de la Rosa told CTV London. "(My husband’s friend) saw somebody laying down on the floor."
Area residents say a mother and four children - two boys and two girls - live there and are often seen around the residence where the children are home-schooled.
The Major Crime Section is continuing the investigation and members remained at the scene on Tuesday evening.
